23 Weeks

Baby is still the size of a: papaya. She will be for the next few weeks. I took this papaya picture in the grocery store :)

Total Weight Gain: 10 lbs. This is on the low end, but still good.

Maternity Clothes: Nope.

Sleep: I can't get enough!

Gender: Sweetie girl

Movement: Frustratingly none. Stupid severed nerve endings in my abdomen are making it difficult for me to feel anything. I guess it's more waiting for me.

Food Cravings: Lately it's been waffles with maple syrup. None of that fake pancake syrup, though. Only the real stuff will do.

What I Miss: Sleeping on my back. I do miss that.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Getting the crib! Mr's E's parents are offered to buy us one, which is terrific.

Milestones: The nursery is painted (pink!) and I'll do a post about it in the coming days.

Symptoms: Fatigue, irritability. Good times.

Growth Scan

We're so happy! We had a really great growth scan today! Our little girl was measuring a tad small one month ago at 18w1d. Well today she had more than doubled in size! She went from 7oz to 15oz. Great job, little one!

She was kicking and rolling around in there, and unfortunately I couldn't feel a thing. Soon enough I will. I hope. We had the tech double-check, and yes, she's still a girl! Woo hoo! We tried to get some pictures of her little face, but she was being shy and covering it up. Here are a couple of the pictures we did get:

22 Weeks

Baby is now the size of a: papaya

Total Weight Gain: 10 pounds - right on track!

Maternity Clothes: Still in regular clothes. This weekend, however, I did buy a pair of stretch yoga-type capri pants that I can wear to work. Comfort always has been and always will be my #1 priority!

Sleep: I'm sleeping well in general.

Gender: Baby girl. :)

Movement: I am hopeful that what I've been feeling is in fact, baby! The activity seems to be (literally) kicking up.

Food Cravings: Sweets, carbs. Not the healthiest stuff!

What I Miss: Sometimes I miss being able to have an adult beverage in social settings.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Our growth scan tomorrow. I can't wait to see our girl again! I'm nervous, as I always am before every appointment.

Milestones: Over the weekend, Mr. E and I picked out the paint color for the nursery! It's called "Bunny's Nose" by Olympic, and it's a non-VOC paint. This is very important to us. Olympic sells an entire line of non-VOC paint at Lowes and it's really affordable. We've used this paint in nearly every room in our house. This week, Mr. E is going to start painting for me, but I wanted to see one more time with my own eyes that we're really having a girl before covering the nursery walls with pink paint!

Symptoms: Fatigue, clumsiness, increased hunger and thirst, increased waist size, increased urinary frequency, increased breast size.

Clearing out the nursery & a new guest room!

As I mentioned in my weekly update, Mr. E and I spent some time over the weekend relocating our existing office to our sunroom/family room. We did this so we could then turn our old office into our new guest room. And we did that because we're turning our old guest room into our baby girl's nursery! Exciting stuff!

You may remember that this is what our old guest room looked like:
This room has been a bit of a blank slate since we moved in 7 months ago. We painted it, threw in our furniture and called it good. In my mind, I was just waiting until the day it could become our nursery, So I never really committed to making it that great.

So, after we'd moved our office downstairs, we were left with this tiny, tiny room:
It's the smallest of all our bedroom, but to be fair, they're all pretty small. We live in an old, Cape Cod style house and the upstairs is really little. As you can see, my cat Gil likes that window.

We took a couple of hours and moved all of the furniture and some accessories into the room, and now it looks like this:
Still tiny, but totally functional for a guest's needs. I'm happy with how it turned out.

Now the focus can move to the nursery! Here's what it looks like in its current state:
(view from doorway)
(view from double window)
(view from room, looking into hallway)

So empty! There isn't even a light in there. As you can see in the last picture, we're missing a sconce that's supposed to be on the wall. I've been looking for a cute one.

It's amazing to think of all the baby things that will fill this room in a few short months. As of right now, everything baby-related that I own has been given to me and put in the room's only closet:
This weekend we'll pick out a new paint color - a pink paint color - and next week, when Mr. E is off on spring break, he'll be painting the room for me! I can't believe this is happening! It's really starting to feel real now.

21 Weeks

Baby is now the size of a: large banana

Total Weight Gain: I still don't know. Maybe I should weigh myself, huh?

Maternity Clothes: I'm still in regular clothes this week, but over the weekend, I put away all of my winter clothes and got out my spring and summer ones. As I was doing this it occurred to me that MANY of my summer clothing is going to be completely unwearable this summer. So back in storage went many of my cute sundresses, skirts, tank tops and shorts. Basically, anything with a waist is now unwearable!

I also bought my first larger-sized bra. I'm a 36-C now - yikes! I've always been a small B so this is quite a change for me.

Sleep: Sleeping quite well in general! The weirdo dreams continue, of course. The other night I dreamt that I went to the doctor, and they told me the baby wasn't there anymore. Then, then did a frozen embroys transfer on me and told me I was six weeks along. I was so upset that I had to "start all over again" being pregnant!

Gender: Girl!

Movement: I think I am finally feeling my baby girl. SHe seems to be most active when I lie on my back in bed at night. I hope what I'm feeling is actually baby. It sure seems like it!

Food Cravings: Soda.

What I Miss: I have to admit, I did feel a pang of sadness when I realized I may never get my 27-inch waist back.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Our next growth scan on 4/19, working on the nursery, the continuation of the beautiful spring weather!

Milestones: Mr. E and I had such a productive weekend! We are turning our former guest room into the nursery, and that meant that we had to relocate our office downstairs to the sunroom, so that we could turn out office into the new guest room! Didya follow all that? :) I'm happy to say we got it all done, and I am loving our new, cute little guest room. I'll do a seperate post about the project coming up this week.

Symptoms: FINALLY starting to show, and FINALLY starting to feel movement! Continuing fatigue, hunger, and urinary frequency.

20 Weeks. I'm half-baked!

Baby is now the size of a: Melon

Total Weight Gain: Don't know, don't care.

Maternity Clothes: No. Still no maternity clothes for this gal. I think my time is becoming limited, though.

Sleep: Better the past few nights. I spent almost all of last week having horrible nightmares!

Gender: Girl :)

Movement: Dang anterior placenta! I believe I felt a kick last week, but since then, nothing. I'm dying to feel movement.

Food Cravings: I still haven't had those intense cravings I hear other women talk about. I'm making an effort to eat more, and to eat more frequently, and I ordered Eating Well When You're Expecting off of Amazon.

What I Miss: Sleeping on my back. It's very uncomfortable for me now.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Feeling that wonderful movement.

Milestones: I am halfway through this pregnancy! I can't believe it. In some ways it feels like it has taken forever to get here, and in other ways, it has just flown. I'm so, so thankful to have made it safely to this point and I am going to try not to rush through the second half of this pregnancy. I know it'll go quickly.

Mr. E and I also started a registry at Target this week! This steps definitely makes things seem more real. There are so many options out there! We sat at the computer last night with our copy of Baby Bargains, trying to choose the best stuff for our little girl.

Symptoms: Fatigue, sensitivity to smells, increased urination, increased appetite, forgetfulness, clumsiness, and a little bit of leakage from one breast - yikes!
